1. Class 1 (MELT, 121.5 hrs)
Procedure to get your class 1 driver licence
- make sure you have your driver medical ready and within 90 days before your road test
- complete air brake course and pass the knowledge test, or you have 'Q' endorsement already
- complete in-class training and get document from driving school
- complete class 1 knowlege test at registry office
- complete in-yard, and on-road training hours
- driving school issues the course completion certificate and notify Alberta Transportation
- book the road test
- When: any time when you know your completion date and ready for road test
- Confirmation: from driving school
- Where: 'Commercial Road Test Booking'
- Fee: $217
- Note: you will get 2 emails right after booking, receipt and booking confirmation. A permit number is included in the confirmation email, which you may need to reschedule or cancel your road test later.

2. Class 3
To get your class 3 driver licence
- take knowledge test for class 3
- when: any time, before or after training
- driver licence: class 5 (non-GDL) required
- take air brake course if you don't have 'Q' endorsement
- take air brake knowledge test before or after road test
- book the class 3 road test
- When: any time when you know you will be ready for the road test
- Who: Frank Driving School
- Cancel or reschedule: 5 day notice is required.

- checkin your road test at any registry office, up to 72 hours prior to the road test time.

To prepare for your class 3 road test:
- Don't be too nervous, people tend to forget things when being too nervous
- Maximum negative points allowed is 50, including parking
- Automatic fails because of rolling stop and speeding are very common

Procedure to get your 'Q' endorsement
- take the 6.5 hours in-class training
- take the practical training and pass the test with the instructor
- get the certificate from the driving school
- take the knowledge test at any registry office
- get your 'Q' endorsement once you pass the knowledge test
4. Canada-Alberta Job Grant program
Some key points:
- Employer applies on behalf of theire present or future employees for the program
- two-thirds of the training cost is covered
- 100% of the training cost is covered if you are unemployed
- training cannot start until the trainees has signed the application and the application is received by the CAJG program
